Dr. Waller was born in Perrydale, Polk county, Oregon, on the 29th of June, 1882, and is a son of Clarence and Olive (Colver) Waller, also natives of this state. The paternal grandfather, Orville Waller, was a native of Indiana, whence he came across the plains with ox teams in the early '40s, locating in Polk county, Oregon, where he took up a homestead, and created a good farm, also engaging in mercantile business. Clarence Waller also conducted a store in the Willamette Valley. Mrs. Olive Waller was descended from old pioneer stock of this state. A. Orville Waller secured his preliminary education in the public schools of Eugene, graduating in the first class from its high school and later attending the University of Oregon. He then entered the American School of Osteopathy, at Kirksville, Missouri, where he was graduated with the degree of Doctor of Osteopathy in 1913, and later matriculated in the San Francisco College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he received the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1916. He served as interne in the City and County Hospital in San Francisco, and in 1917 enlisted in the Medical Corps of the Oregon Coast Artillery, with which he served until April 2, 1919. Coming to Eugene, he has engaged in the practice of his profession here to the present time and has been eminently successful. He conducts a general practice in medicine and surgery and stands in the front rank of his profession in this locality. In March, 1924, the Doctor assisted in organizing and equipping the Pacific Christian Hospital, which was built by the International Bible Mission, which owns the Eugene Bible University. This splendid institution, of which he is the chief of the medical staff, has eighty-eight beds, that will be increased to one hundred and thirty beds during 1928. It is a general hospital and is open to all physicians. Dr. Waller was married June 29, 1918, to Miss Sara Barker, of Astoria, Oregon, and they have two children, Frederick Orville and Colver Kempt.
