Portland, OR, Geo. H. Himes, Book and Job Printer, 1885. p. 899. CHARLES EATON Born near Erie, Pennsylvania, in 1819. Came to Oregon in 1843, and settled at Oregon City, where he was employed by J. W. Nesmith for a time. Went to California in 1849, and engaged in mining with his brother Nathan. In 1880 went to Puget Sound and settled on Tenalquot Prairie. During the Indian war of 1855-56 he was in active service as captain of a company of rangers who helped greatly in protecting the frontier.
