"An Illustrated history of Baker, Grant, Malheur and Harney Counties : with a brief outline of the early history of the state of Oregon." Chicago?: Western Historical Pub. Co., 1902. Page 602. Malheur County. FRANK A. KIME Among the leading stockmen of the western part of Malheur county must be mentioned the Kime brothers, of which firm the subject of this sketch is the senior member. He is a man of ability and enterprise and ranks well with his fellows. Frank A. was born in Sierra county, California, on September 21, 1867, being the son of David and Nancy (Zimmerman) Kime. The father was a carpenter and miner and died on September 21, 1876. He had crossed the plains with ox teams in 1860 from the state of Iowa to California, and in 1865 he returned to the states and in the spring of 1866 he came via Panama with his wife, locating in California until the time of his death. Subsequent to her husband's death Mrs. Kime came to Oregon, locating the present place where the boys live, a half section of land three miles east from Westfall, on Bully creek. After proving up Mrs. Kime went to dwell in Caldwell, where she has a fine residence, and lives a retired life from the cares of business, while her interests are looked after by her sons. The farm place is mostly meadow, well supplied with water and has good buildings. The brother of our subject is John M. Kime, born April 13, 1875, in Sierra county, California. He was married on January 20, 1902, to Martha Kincker. The subject of this article was married August 12, 1900, to Mrs. Margretha (Kucker) Kime. To them has been born one child, David M. By her former husband Mrs. Kime has three children, William H., Harry P. and Albert J. Our subject and his brother are in partnership in the stock business and while they have a fine bunch of large horses, they also make a specialty of cattle, having a goodly herd of them. They are among the enterprising men in this important industry and have manifested enthusiasm and skill that have placed them in the ranks of the leaders, and they are highly esteemed among all who have the pleasure of their acquaintance. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
