"Illustrated History of Lane County, Oregon." Portland, Oregon: A. G. Walling, publisher, 1884. pg. 491. F. B. DUNN Was born in Atheny, Illinois, in the year 1833. Following the advice of Horace Greeley to "go west" we find young Dunn, in the year 1853, engaged in the unromantic occupation of driving and ox-team across the plains, arriving in Albany, Linn county, Oregon, without a dollar, in August of that year. He began to face the world by clerking, exchanging in the following year, for a like position in Eugene City, then a town of but one house. By strict economy he was enabled several years later, to start a business of his own on a small scale, and by unswerving industry combined with close attention to the sphere of life he had chosen, he has built up the extensive trade he now enjoys. Mr. Dunn is the owner of an extensive cattle ranch three miles from Eugene City, he now owning four thousand three hundred acres. An excellent view of the town residence of Mr. Dunn will be fund in this work. He married Miss Ann C. Christian, and has seven children. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
