Clark, Robert Carlton, Ph.D. "History of the Willamette Valley Oregon." Vol. 3. Chicago: Chapman Publishing Company, 1927. p. 204. FRANK W. MOORHEAD In the business and civic life of Junction City, Frank W. Moorhead has long taken an active part, having for over twenty years been identified with the First National Bank, of which he is now cashier. Born in Clearfield county, Pennsylvania, on the 10th of October, 1864, he is a son of Dr. Joseph M. and Margaret (McFarlane) Moorhead. His father was for many years actively engaged in the practice of medicine and about 1872 moved to northwestern Missouri, where he continued in the practice of his profession to the time of his death. Frank W. Moorhead secured a public school education and then learned the printing trade. In 1892 he came to Oregon with his brother, S. L. Moorhead, who is now editor of the Cowlitz County Advocate, at Castle Rock, Washington. They established the Junction City Times, with which Mr. Moorhead remained until 1905, when he entered the Farmers & Merchants Bank as bookkeeper. Later he became assistant cashier of this bank and of its successor, the present First National Bank, and in April, 1912, on the death of the president, Mr. Bushnell and the elevation of William C. Washburne to the presidency, he became cashier, which position he still holds. He has devoted himself indefatigably to the interests of this well known institution and much of its success has been due to his earnest and able efforts. In 1896 Mr. Moorhead was united in marriage to Miss Jeannette A. Gaines, of Charles City, Iowa, and to diem have been born two children, Florence M., and Luella A., who is the wife of Henry Hansen, of Junction City, Mr. Moorhead is a member of Junction City Lodge, No. 128, A. F. & A. M., of which he is a past master; Portland Consistory, A. A. S. R.; Hillah Temple, A. A. 0. N. M. S., of Ashland; the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in which he has passed through the chairs; and the Woodmen of the World. Politically he is a stanch republican and has served as treasurer of Junction City for the past thirty years, while for twenty years he was clerk of the school board. He is a man of strict integrity of motive and action and commands to a marked degree the respect of the entire community in which he lives. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
