GILMORE CALLISON (Deceased) Was born in Adair county, Kentucky, December 18, 1808, and emigrated to Illinois, settling in Hancock county in 1832, from which State and county he started across the plains with his family, consisting of wife and eight children, six boy and two girls, in 1852, with whom, save one son who died on the journey, he arrived in Lane county in September of that year, his wife dying soon afterwards. Settling at Pleasant Hill he there resided until 1866 when he moved to Eugene city, and there departed this life in March, 1869. During his sojourn in Oregon he opened up a farm, and besides spent a good deal of his time in preaching for the Christian church at Pleasant Hill, Eugene City, and other portions of the State.
