Present residence, Monmouth, Polk County, and occupation farming and stock-raising. He married Sarah Steepson in Iowa in 1845, and their children's names are -- Lewis, James, Harmon, Mary C., and William H. When Mr. Helmick arrived in Oregon, he, with a company of others, came down the Columbia River on a raft, which also contained all their goods.
