Emigrated to California in 1850 and in 1851 arrived in Oregon and opened the first furniture store in Washington County and is still engaged in that business. Built the Tualatin Hotel at Hillsboro in 1854. Was married in 1856 to Mary C. Emerick, by whom he has had -- Charlotte E., Mary C., William H., and George A.
