JAMES TURNER

James Turner: lives on Sucker creek; is a miner and blacksmith; post office is
Althouse; was born in Buckinghamshire, Virginia; came to state in 1851, and to
county in 1853.  Married June 25, 1865, to Fenie Haines.  Children, Charles H.,
Kate S., George L., Fred L., John W. and Alice F.  Mr. Thornton was the first
treasurer of Umpqua county.
