His parents came to Yamhill County, Oregon, in 1844, and their son worked upon his father's farm until 1857, when he removed to Polk County and entered upon merchandising at Bethel. Was justice of the peace from 1862 to 1868. Was Representative in the Legislature of 1882. Married Miss Eliza Mulkey in 1857. Their children are -- Horace G., May, William H., Curtis, Constance, Luke, and Maud.
