     Mr. Sampson, now a resident of Lafayette, Yamhill County, came to Oregon in
1852, arriving in Portland on the twentieth of August. He remained but six
-weeks in that town, leaving it for Yamhill County, in which he has resided
nearly all the intervening years. He has been identified with its growth and
progress and has built up an estimable name as a citizen.
