JOHN L. GRUBB

     A view of whose residence is placed among the illustrations of this work --
was born in Louisa county, Iowa.  When but a small boy, Mr. Grubb emigrated with
his parents, in 1852, to Jackson county, Oregon.  On attaining his majority our
subject engaged in farming for himself, to which he has since added stock
raising.  The latter pursuit he is now largely engaged in on his farm near
Jacksonville.
