DICK Was born in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, March 7, 1818, and there received his early education, afterwards, in 1837, graduating from the Western University at Pittsburg. Having been a theological student in Alleghany City, he entered the ministry in 1841, and commenced his labors. Leaving New York, November 5, 1851, he sailed via the Isthmus of Panama to San Francisco, whence he proceeded to Oregon, arriving in January, 1852. It was not, however, until January, 1853, that he took up the donation claim on Camp creek, Lane county, where he has since continuously resided, and engaged in agricultural pursuits, still however, retaining a practical interest in the calling chosen in his earlier years. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
