Bell was born in Illinois and started out in life for himself when a boy of twelve. In 1887 he located at Grays Harbor, Washington, and has since been identified with the development of the Pacific coast region. He came to Portland in 1908 and has resided there since. He formerly engaged in logging, lumbering, public service utilities and banking.
