JESSUP, M.D. Born in Indiana in 1839; moved to Iowa when eleven years of age and worked on a farm, attended school and became a teacher. After coming to Oregon he taught school at Amity, in 1863 and 1864; then studied medicine at Fort Yamhill, and at the Toland Medical College in San Francisco; graduated in 1868, in Salem, and moved to Dallas. On August 26, 1868, he was married to Miss S. Coshow. Went East and, in 1871, graduated at Bellevue Hospital and Medical College in New York City; returned to Oregon and settled in Salem, where he has since resided. Was professor of Anatomy in the Medical Department of the Willamette University several years. In 1880 he was elected councilman.
