Malheur County. THOMAS B. FISER This esteemed gentleman is one of the well known and representative men of the county of Malheur and one of the business men of Ontario, where he operates the Brown hotel, also handling a tract of thirty acres immediately east from town, where he has a fine orchard and raises many of the fruits of the soil indigenous to this latitude. Thomas B. was born in Weakley county, Tennessee, on April 27, 1854, being the son of Pleasant I. and Elizabeth (Hunt) Fiser. He grew up on the farm, attending the public schools and remained there with his parents until he was twenty-one years of age. At that time he went to Calloway county, Kentucky, and a few years later went to Johnson county, Arkansas, and there on December 27, 1883, occurred his marriage to Miss Mary K., daughter of John M. and Susan Brown. In 1888 Mr. Fisher migrated with his family to Baker City, Oregon, and the following year he went to Juntura, Malheur county, entered government land and devoted his energies to raising stock. He proved up on the land and owns it. Subsequent to proving up on the farm he was foreman on the Otis ranch for Miller & Lux, and in September, 1897, he moved to Ontario, purchased the land above spoken of and settled down. He handles the hotel mentioned, his wife largely attending to that while he supervises the gardening and fruit on the land adjoining town. To Mr. and Mrs. Fiser there have been born the following named children: Clarence L., Susan, William H. and Emma E. Mr. Fiser is a member of the I.O.O.F., Ontario Lodge, No. 90, and also of the W. of W. He has manifested much interest in the advancement of the county's welfare, and has always been characterized by enterprise and sagacity in his affairs, having achieved a good success. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
