Clark, Robert Carlton, Ph.D. "History of the Willamette Valley Oregon." Vol. 2. Chicago: Chapman Publishing Company, 1927. p. 187. W. J. LICHTY W. J. Lichty occupies a leading place among the successful real estate and insurance men of Eugene, for he is of that progressive and enterprising type of men who well deserve the title of "go getters." He has had a splendid business record since coming to this city and commands the respect of all who have had dealings with him. Mr. Lichty was born in 1875, in Waterloo, Iowa, and is a son of William H. and Mary B. Lichty, both of whom are deceased. He was reared on his father's farm and, after completing the public school course, he attended the Waterloo Business College. For a number of years he taught school in Iowa and North Dakota, and then for three years was a collector for the Burlington Land Company in North Dakota. Later he took up a homestead and also established a store and banking business which he conducted until December, 1919, when he sold his interests there and came to Eugene, Oregon, where he has since been engaged in the real estate, loan and insurance business, in which he has been more than ordinarity successful. In 1905 Mr. Lichty was united in marriage to Miss Anna Lynn, who died in 1919, leaving two children, Blanche and Dorris. Mr. Lichty is a democrat in his political affiliation, and he is a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, the Eugene Country Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He is a man of genial and kindly nature, takes a commendable interest in the welfare of this community and is fully worthy of the respect which is accorded him by his fellowmen. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
