Axel Anderson Was born in Ukna parish, Smaland, Sweden, July 13, 1879. When only six years old, his father died, and when he was eleven years old, his mother died. After he had finsihed common school he went to high school, taking up a one year course. After that he got a position in a hardware store, selling sewing machines, and was for some time engaged in other line of business. He emigrated to America in 1903, coming to Aberdeen, Washington, where he stayed for one year. Coming to Tacoma in 1904, he attended the Pacific Lutheran College at Parkland for one term. For about four years he held various positions here, until he went into business of his own, conducting a cigar and confectionery store. In partnership with Carl Hegglund he is now conducting the Calhalla Club and business in connection therewith. Anderson has for eighteen years been a member of the Valhalla, is scharter member of the Order of Runeburg. He has held many important offices in these lodges. He was married in 1912 to Alva Strandell, born in Borlange, Dalarne, Sweden, June 22, 1894. They have two children, a son and a daughter. ******************* Submitted to the Washington Bios.
