"An Illustrated History of Whitman County, state of Washington." San Francisco: W. H. Lever, 1901. p. 307. CHARLES B. MILLER This prosperous and well-to-do farmer and stockman is a native of Iowa, born July 14, 1859. When eleven years old his parents moved to Kansas, he, of course, accompanying them. They located in Osage county, where our subject passed the remaining years of his minority and completed his education. As soon as years of maturity were attained he engaged in farming, continuing in the same until 1887, which year is the date of his advent to Whitman county. Shortly after his arrival in the famed Palouse country he located on a farm ten miles west of Pullman, and in that vicinity he has resided ever since. In 1890 he purchased the farm on which he is now located, and he is now the owner of two hundred and forty acres of fine land. He keeps considerable stock, also is engaged quite extensively in other forms of farming. He resides in a pleasant and commodious home, and about the premises are many good outbuildings, considerable machinery and much labor-saving equipment. An air of thrift pervades the atmosphere of the place, and evidences of progressiveness and careful management are everywhere visible. The marriage of our subject to Miss Annie Kriebel, a native of Pennsylvania, was duly solemnized in this county on February 16, 1892. Mr. Miller's father died in Iowa, but his mother passed away in this county. ******************* Submitted to the Washington Biographies Project in June 2009 by Diana Smith.
