Hull, Lindley M., compiler and editor. "A History of Central Washington, Including the Famous Wenatchee, Entiat, Chelan and the Columbia Valleys." Spokane: Press of Shaw & Borden Co., 1929. p. 443. C. E. HEDDING In the fall of 1894, Bert Bonar was engaged in logging for the mill company. He was in need of help, and as good fortune would have it along came C. E. Hedding, who among his friends is known as Ed. He was a fresh arrival from Illinois, and was willing enough to go to work. He secured a claim a few miles up the Entiat from the Bonar ranch, and about twenty miles from the Columbia River. Mountains and dense forest were all around him, but in good time he changed his claim into a highly productive hay ranch. He was free handed and generous in donation work to build up the country. In 1903 he was married to Miss Jerusha White. He bought the stock of merchandise owned by C. C. King in the old town, and when the railroad built through, he had a concrete building ready for business with goods on the shelves. He quit the store business and now rents the building. He lives on the hill near town. His mother, Mrs. Darst, who has been in the country since about the year 1900, lives near him. Mr. and Mrs. Hedding have a married daughter, and one in attendance at the University of California, besides a little boy and girl at home. ******************* Submitted to the Washington Biographies Project in May 2010 by Diana Smith.
