HON. C. H. WHITNEY, deceased. - Was born in Portland, Maine, September 18, 1828,
and there was educated.  In 1868 he came to the Pacific Coast and settling at
Vancouver there resided until his death, which occurred, September 16, 1885,
when his body was taken to Searsport, Maine, for interment.  During his life Mr.
Whitney was prominently connected with the interests and development of Clarke
county, while he was latterly in partnership with H. H. Gridley.  He was
married, to Miss Caroline Nickels.
