Hull, Lindley M., compiler and editor. "A History of Central Washington, Including the Famous Wenatchee, Entiat, Chelan and the Columbia Valleys." Spokane: Press of Shaw & Borden Co., 1929. p. 262. JOHN H. MILLER whose residence in Chelan County dates from April, 1887, is one of the many Millers, who came from Pennsylvania. He is a nephew of Philip Miller, and of course has many relatives among the Millers scattered about the Wenatchee country. He crossed the mountains between here and Ellensburg, via the Nanum Trail, and in common with the other young men of the party, felt as though the world had turned into a mountain of snow, and it may be said that the ordeal of fighting their way through it was painful in the extreme. At present Mr. Miller has a ranch near Malaga. In the early days he occupied a homestead near Brender Canyon, beyond what in those days was called "Old Mission." For many years he operated a meat market in Cashmere. He also conducted a market in Wenatchee for two years. He was in Seattle from 1914 to 1919 following the same business. In fact his business life in Washington has been equally divided between ranching and the meat business. Mr. Miller is quiet and orderly in his habits, and by his conduct as a citizen and in his business transactions, he has upheld the tradition of the Pennsylvania Millers for integrity and uprightness of living. ******************* Submitted to the Washington Biographies Project in October 2010 by Diana Smith.
