Hull, Lindley M., compiler and editor. "A History of Central Washington, Including the Famous Wenatchee, Entiat, Chelan and the Columbia Valleys." Spokane: Press of Shaw & Borden Co., 1929. p. 388. JAMES T. BOYLE Deceased. Mr. Boyle will be remembered by many old settlers as a brother of Mrs. J. L. Weythman of Monitor. A native of Illinois, his parents when he was quite young removed to Adrian County, Missouri, where young Mr. Boyle grew to manhood. On April 16, 1885, he was married to Miss Nancy M. Dye, near Florida, Missouri. About two years after this event, the Boyles came to Washington Territory, and lived for a short time near Seattle and thence removed to Ellensburg where they resided until 1892, when they pitched their tent in the new and noisy town or Wenatchee. During that year Mr. Boyle conducted a flourishing laundry business, but with the boom colapse in the spring of 1893, he found it expedient to seek a more populous center, and he chose the thriving town of Leavenworth, where again he engaged in laundry work, which under his good management reached successful proportions. He on his own resources installed the first water system of Leavenworth, and in many ways furnished evidence of a forward moving progressive citizen, who during his residence in that town was given positions of trust and responsibility. He was justice of the peace seven years. He was actively identified with the democratic party and was a valuable asset to that political organization, which made him a candidate for country commissioner in 1900, the first year of existence for Chelan County. Mr. Boyle passed away in April, 1901, much regretted by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. A little later, Mrs. Boyle with her eight children removed to Bremerton, Washington. In the year 1920, Mrs. Boyle was married to J. W. Phillips, of Bremerton. This couple find it a genuine pleasure to make an occasional visit to the Wenatchee country. ******************* Submitted to the Washington Biographies Project in June 2012 by Diana Smith.
