Hull, Lindley M., compiler and editor. "A History of Central Washington, Including the Famous Wenatchee, Entiat, Chelan and the Columbia Valleys." Spokane: Press of Shaw & Borden Co., 1929. p. 238. PERRY E. SOULE one of the most dependable and upright citizens of Chelan County, is a native of Washington, having been born on the coast in Pacific County, fifty odd years ago. He springs from a strong line of pioneer ancestry. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel P. Soule were pioneers in Wisconsin and moved from that state to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1853. In 1854, they removed to Oregon, and a few years later settled in Washington where they homesteaded 1 60 acres of land. Our subject grew up on this place, though according to his statement, he with his father gave about half of their time to oystering which was an industry of some importance. In 1889, he was married to Miss Mima Hoover, who is a native of California, but grew up in Oregon, her parents having lived as pioneers in both states. In 189 7, Mr. and Mrs. Soule came to the town of Wenatchee where they lived about two years. They then removed to the Sam R. Holcomb ranch on Stemilt Creek which they operated one year, and then took a five year lease on the James Turner place one half mile beyond what is now Appleyard. At the close of four years they purchased the ranch, on which they have since lived and prospered. Six children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Soule: Samuel P., George H., Mrs. Inez Seaton, Mrs. Elaine Reese, Lela and Frank, all of whom are living near Wenatchee, except George, who was in the U. S. Army seven years, serving during the World War, and who now lives in Michigan. ******************* Submitted to the Washington Biographies Project in February 2012 by Diana Smith.
