OBITUARY - MARJORIE JEAN (POLAND) CHURCHILL Submitted by: Jan Redelsperger, jansperger at gmail dot com Source: "The Daily News," Longview, Cowlitz Co., Washington, Thursday, 19 Nov 1998 Kelso native Marjorie Jean "Jeannie" Churchill, 84, died Nov. 12, 1998, in Puyallup. She was born Jan. 17, 1914, in Kelso, the youngest child of George and Edna Poland. Mrs. Churchill worked for the Works Progress Administration during World War II and was a Navy wife. She also worked for the Civil Service at McChord Air Force Base for several years. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. She contributed to her church, missionaries and many Christian organizations. She loved flowers, gardening, reading, her family and especially her grandchildren. Her sister, Byrdee Poland Watson, and two brothrs, Wayne and Lloyd Poland, preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Paula Case and Janet Redelsperger, both of Puyallup; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson, plus another on the way. A memorial service was held Monday in Tacoma, followed by a gathering of family and friends. Interment will take place in Kelso.
