OBITUARY - FRED BRASHEAR Submitted by: Vikk, VGDriver1 at aol dot com Source: "Lewis River News," Woodland, Cowlitz Co., WA, Thursday, February 20, 1958 Wednesday Service Held for Brashear Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Presbyterian church for Fred Brashear, 50, of Woodland who died Saturday at Madigan Army hospital at Fort Lewis. Brashear was born May 10, 1907 at Cougar, and except for 22 years spent in the United States army, lived his entire life in the Woodland-LaCenter area. He retired from the army Mar. 27, 1950 at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. as a chief warrant officer. Brashear had enlisted Dec. 9, 1927 at Fort Warren and served in World War ll. He had been an employee of the Woodland post office the past two years. Survivors include his wife Mollie of Woodland; a daughter Mrs. Darwin Harfert, Grant, New Mexico; his mother, Mrs. Hulda Brashear, LaCenter; a sisters, Mrs. Pauline Gordon, LaCenter; a brother Marion, LaCenter; and two grandchildren. The services were conducted by the Reverends J.L. Verhei and Walter Peterson. Burial followed at Willamette National Cemetery. Woodland Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
