Guier Robert LaRoy Guier, 85, of Kelso, passed away September 20, 2003 at home. He was born August 6, 1918 in Kelso, to George and Elva Howe Guier, and had been a lifetime resident of Kelso with the exception of his time served in the United States Army in World War 2. Mr. Guier worked in the maintenance department of the Kelso School District for 29 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Lexington Bible Fellowship, Kelso Eagles lodge, was a square dance and round dance caller and teacher, and a founder of the Columbia Squares and Beaver Squares dance clubs. He enjoyed country/western music, woodworking, gardening and a 50th wedding anniversary trip to Hawaii. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Helen Guier, at home; his daughter, Dolly Guier, of Kelso; his step-daughter, Helen Roulst, of Kelso; three grandchildren, Joann Eaton, of Kelso, Kelly Giddings, of Seattle and Casey Williams, of Maple Valley; four great-grandchildren also survive. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 24th at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Columbia funeral service with Pastor Jerry Hancuff officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Stockport Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be offered to the Hospice Care Center, Box 2067, Longview 98632.
