OBITUARY - JAMES FLOYD CHAMBERLAIN Submitted by: Leona Johnson, bell_crazy2000 at yahoo dot com Source: "The Columbian," Vancouver, Clark Co., WA; 9 Nov 2002 Former local resident James Floyd Chamberlain, 88, died Nov 4, 2002, at a Vancouver adult care facility. He was born April 5, 1914, in Falls City, Ore., as the eldest Dee R. and Dora (McDowell) Chamberlain's eight children. He attended Oregon schools and moved to the local area in the 1930's. He had lived in the Clark County area since 1983. He served in the Army during World War II. He 55 years for Long Bell Lumber Co., retiring in 1979. He was a active member of Mount Zion Tabernacle Church in Brush Prairie, Wa. He enjoyed hunting with his grandson Scott, and was a camera buff. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Ila (Muir), in 1982, and a brother Kenneth Chamberlain. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Lola (White), at home; two step-children, Nancy Kling and Bill Call of Longview; three sisters, Mabel Ellingson of Fort Worth, Texas, Ruby Jensen of Boulder City, Nev., and Pauline Froehlich of Renton; three brothers, Harold Chamberlain and Melvin Chamberlain, both of Longview, and Allen Chamberlain of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The casket will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. A service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel, 1101 N.E. 112th Ave., Vancouver.
