OBITUARY - HARVEY COOPER Submitted by: Leona Johnson, bell_crazy2000 at yahoo dot com Source: "The Daily News," Longview, Cowlitz Co., WA Harvey Cooper, 62, a lifelong resident of Castle Rock, died Feb 5, 1992, at his home at 120 Lake Road, Silver Lake. Mr Cooper, a truck driver was born Nov 17, 1929, in Castle Rock, to Oz and Mabel Cooper. He drove a truck for Weyerhaeuser Timber Co., for 38 years, retiring in January of this year. He also owned and operated Streeters Resort for 29 years. He was a charter member of the Mount St Helens Motorcycle Club, which was formed in 1962, and a past volunteer fireman for Toutle. He loved hunting and deep sea fishing. .Survivors include his wife Lois Cooper, at home; two daughters, Paula Nelson and Dede Leatherwood, both of Silver Lake; a son DeWayne "Punk" Cooper, of Toutle; his mother, Mabel Carpenter of Castle Rock; a sister, Monette Kollar of Tacoma; three brothers, Dwight Carpenter of Castle Rock, Jimmy Carpenter of Las Vegas, Nev., and Danny Carpenter of Yakima, and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Castle Rock Christian Church with the Rev Ed Miller officiating.
