"Death Comes to Cowlitz Pioneer" William Dahlman, who had resided at Silver Lake, east of Castle Rock, for nearly 60 years, taking up a homestead there in 1870, succumbed to pneumonia Tuesday. He was born in ---land, Sweden, December 20, 1840, and would have been 88 years old in December. He came to the United States in the '60's, and in 1870 took up his homestead near Silver Lake. He took an active part in county affairs until late years. His wife died in 1895. Surviving him are four children. Mrs. Frank G. Barnes, whose husband is state senator for Cowlitz county; A. L. Dahlman, Silver Lake; C. W. Dahlman, Castle Rock, and Dr. G. D. Dahlman, Toppenish, Wash., eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Scholz chapel at Castle Rock this afternoon with interment in the Whittle cemetery.
