Laulainen - The Rev., Oscar, 78, 221 Martin Road, Longview, died Jan 7 in a local hospital. Born Feb 18, 1880, at Puolanka, Finland. The Rev. Laulainen was a member of the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church. He came to the United States in November 1899, settling in the Mt. Solo district. He moved to Astoria in 1902 and married Sophia Hendrickson there in 1904. The couple settled at Beaver Creek and left there in 1910 to return to Mt. Solo. The Rev. Launiainen was ordained in 1932 and served in the ministry until 1954. His wife preceded him in death during that year. Survivors include three sons, Aldevin, Rudolph and William, all of Longview; one sister Margaret Neilsen of Pomona, Calif; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. McVicker's Chapel on the Hill is in charge.
