OBITUARY: VIVIAN ELLSWORTH JOHNSON Submitted by: Leona Johnson, bell_crazy2000 -at- yahoo.com Source: "The Daily News", Longview, Cowlitz Co., Washington. 21 Aug 2012 Lifelong local resident Vivian Ellsworth Johnson, 96, of Castle Rock died Aug. 14, 2012. He was born July 25, 1916, in Castle Rock to lifelong native Vivian C. and Alta (Davis) Johnson and attended Castle Rock High School. Pete served in the Army during World War II and worked as a logger. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed hunting, fishing and his family. On Dec. 23, 1939, he married Jessie R. Rowland in Kalama. She preceded him in death Jan. 18, 2003. On the 18th of every month after that, Pete made sure a dozen red roses were placed on her grave. Pete is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Leona Johnson of Castle Rock; four grandchildren, Tim Johnson and Rex Johnson, both of Minot, N.D., Scott Johnson of Winlock and Tammy and her husband, Robert Pate, of Castle Rock; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Jessie, Pete was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Private burial will take place at Whittle-Hubbard Cemetery in Castle Rock. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements are by Hubbard Funeral Home.
