Eddington, 77, died at a Vancouver care facility June 22, 2002. He was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Tellico Plains, Tenn., to George L. and Sally V. (Ditmore) Eddington. Mr. Eddington served in the Army during World War II and moved to the local area in 1955. He was a treater at International Paper Co. for numerous years until he retired in 1983. He loved fishing, gardening, bowling and raising chickens. A skilled woodworker, he made furniture and lamps. He also enjoyed scenic drives to the mountains. Mr. Eddington was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Clara Elva Eddington, in 1993. Survivors include his wife, Anna M. Eddington, at home; two sons, Clifford Eddington of Vancouver and Jeffery Eddington of Kelso; a daughter, Linda Johnson of Longview, a brother, Franklin Eddington of Etowah, Tenn., a sister, Avelene Eddington of Etowah; two stepsons; two stepdaughters; eight grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Columbia Funeral Chapel with pastor Jerry Hancuff officiating. Friends are welcome to pay their respects at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday. Private interment will take place at Whittle-Hubbard Cemetery in Castle Rock. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Box 2680, N.
