Kentucky, and died March 28, 1878 in Denton Co. Texas. He married LOUISA HUTCHINS August 20, 1854 in Russell Co. VA, daughter of JACOB HUTCHINS and NANCY BUCHANAN. She was born December 04, 1836 in Yancey Co. NC, and died October 24, 1923 in Toledo Washington. Notes for JACOB F. BLAIR: 1860 Wise Co. VA. Census 1870 Meeker Co. MN Census In the Wise Co. Virginia Court Order Book 2 (1862-1867), it contains the following entry (Page 119) from the Court session held on May 10th, 1862. "Jacob Blair was examined by the Board of Physicians who reported him unfit for militia service from a deformity of the leg and thereupon it is ordered that he be discharged from militia service. " Almost a year later probably forced to enlist, which was common for those times and area. Jacob F Blair 07 February 1863 Pike County, KY Private Served Kentucky Enlisted C Co. 14th Cav Reg. KY deserted on 01 May 1863. This regiment fought a battle on May 1st in Big Stone Gap, Wise Co., probably left to go home which was right close. The Blair's, Hutchins and several other VA families headed to Meeker Co. Minnesota in the spring of 1864 to establish New Virginia, MN: Captain E.K. Counts, Jacob F. Blair, Jasper Wright, Soloman Wright, W.A. Wright, Jacob Chaney. This whole clan came following the route as given by one of the Fullers: With so many people from Va and KY going to homestead land in MN. After the long flatboat trip starting out on the Tug River and going to the Big sandy, the Ohio, the Mississippi and then Minnesota river. Notes for LOUISA HUTCHINS: My father George Blair remembered his grandmother Louisa sitting on the porch smoking a corncob pipe. Her obituary reads "TOLEDO WOMAN PASSES Oct. 26th- The death of Mrs. Louise Blair occurred at the family home in Toledo, Wednesday evening. Deceased was 86 years of age and has resided in that section for the past 15 years. Four sons survive: John and George Blair of Toledo; Frank Blair of Ethel and William Blair of Puyallup. A daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Duckering lives at Big Bend, Mont. Louisa Blair is buried next to her daughter-in-law Ida Fuller Blair in the Fuller plot at the Salkum Cemetery. George Blair left Minnesota and settled in Eastern Washington in the 1880's, the rest of the Blair's followed came in 1903-04 and settled in Lewis Co. WA. She was the genealogist and keeper of the history of the BLAIR family. She visited Meeker Co. Minn in the 1960's. Belonged to the Onalaska Presbyterian church. George lost his right hand in the early 60's in a mill accident at Toledo, wore a hook on his hand controlled by a harness. Kids always called him "Captain Hook" Was very involved in the sports organizations in Onalaska. Time keeper, ran the chains at football games. After he lost his hand, he spent the rest of his employment until retirement with Lewis Co. Road dept.
