ROGERS Among those who have gained distinctive prestige in connection with the banking and financial interests of Eugene stands A. A. Rogers, the able and efficient cashier of the First National Bank. He has had wide banking experience and has shown himself a man of mature judgment and wise discrimination, his discharge of the duties of his present position having gained for him the respect of all who have come into contact with him. Mr. Rogers was born in Bloomington, Illinois, on the 22nd of December, 1881, and is a. son of Lucius and Eunice Rogers. In 1891 the family moved to Iowa, where the father engaged in farming, which vocation he followed up to the time of his death. Mr. Rogers attended the public schools and Simpson College, in Iowa, and then entered the University of Idaho, where he was graduated in 1906. He next entered the Moscow (Idaho) State Bank, of which he later became assistant cashier, remaining there until 1910, when he organized the Bank of Winchester, Idaho, of which he became cashier. In 1917 Mr. Rogers sold his interests there and came to Eugene. He at once acquired an interest in the First National Bank, of which he became a director and assistant cashier, and in 1920 was made cashier, which position he still holds. He is also a director of the Security Savings & Loan Association. On May 16, 1908, Mr. Rogers was united in marriage to Miss Florence Skattaboo, of Moscow, Idaho, and they are the parents of two children, Arthur and Harry. Mr. Rogers is a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, the Rotary Club, the Eugene Country Club, the Chamber of Commerce, of which he was a director for eight years and president in 1926, the Young Men's Christian Association, of which he is a member of the board of directors. He is a stanch republican in his political views and his religious affiliation ' is with the Presbyterian church. He has shown himself a man of fine public spirit, deeply interested in the welfare and progress of Eugene, and has gained a high place in public esteem. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
