     Born in Wood County, Ohio, March 4, 1838; was taken to Missouri in the same
year, and to Oregon ten years later.  He settled in Washington County, but later
removed to McMinnville, Yamhill County, where he still resides engaged in
farming and stock-raising.  He married Pauline Beman in Yamhill County, November
29, 1874, and their children's names are -- John B., Lizzie E., Rosley A., and
Lelah B.
