Parsons, Col. William and Shiach, W. S. "An Illustrated History of Umatilla County and of Morrow County." Spokane, WA: W. H. Lever, 1902. p. 461. A. J. McINTYRE To this esteemed and enterprising agriculturist we are bound to allot a space in these abiding chronicles of our county, where he has displayed both wisdom in his business affairs, loyalty to our free institutions and a hearty interest in maintaining the best government and supporting those measures for the general advancement of all. His fine capabilities and especially good efforts in the financial world have given him a distinction fully merited, while his exemplary life both from a business standpoint and as a manifestation of sterling integrity has incalculated in the minds of all his numerous acquaintances a well placed confidence in him. He is a native of Canada, his parents, John and Catherine (McDonald) McIntyre, being emigrants to that country from Scotland. In his native land he received a good education in the public schools, remaining there until 1888, when he came to this county. For a few years after coming here he farmed as a tenant on Gerking Flat, but soon by careful management and industry he was enabled to purchase a farm of his own, which he did in 1896, the place being where he now lives, three miles north from Weston. He owns a fine estate of three hundred and twenty acres, which is improved in an excellent manner, being well tilled and wisely laid out, stocked with all necessary machinery for operation, besides a full quota of live stock, having a handsome residence and a goodly number of substantial outbuildings. Mr. McIntyre is fraternally affiliated with the Woodmen of the World, being a charter member of the lodge in Athena. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
