McDANIEL Born on the Cumberland River, in Kentucky, in January, 1824; reared to manhood in that State and Illinois, and set out for the Pacific Coast in 1844. Settled first in Yamhill, but removed in 1845 to Polk County, where he still remains, at his residence near Independence. Married in 1846 to Miss L. J. Carmack, a native of Tennessee. Their children numbered nine, named William, Joseph, Lane, John, Elisha, S. J., J. D., Robert E., and S. P. Mr. McDaniel's occupations have included farming and stock-raising, which latter pursuit he carries on in Yakima County, W. T.
