Clark, Robert Carlton, Ph.D. "History of the Willamette Valley Oregon." Vol. 3. Chicago: Chapman Publishing Company, 1927. p. 292. F. M. WOODSON One of the prosperous automobile agencies in Linn county is that of F. M. Woodson, who owns and operates the Service Motor Company at Harrisburg and handles the full line of Ford products. Through his indefatigable efforts, backed by sound business judgment, he has built up a large patronage and is numbered among Harrisburg's most enterprising business men. Mr. Woodson was born in Texas, on the 10th of January, 1902, and is a son of C. R. and Annie (Baker) Woodson. The former engaged in farming for many years but is now running the Auto Park at Cottage Grove, to which place he moved in 1923. F. M. Woodson received his education in the public schools and then went to work in a garage, gaining a thorough, practical knowledge of automobile mechanism. He came to Oregon and entered the employ of his brother at Cottage Grove, with whom he remained until March 5, 1925, when he came to Harrisburg and established the Service Motor Company, securing the direct agency for the Ford cars and products, which he is now handling. He has a good one-story brick and concrete garage, one hundred by one hundred feet in size, with a good display room, office and parts department, and also has a complete and well equipped repair shop. He employs five people and in 1926 sold seventy-five new and second-hand cars. He has been absolutely square in all of his dealings and is firmly established in the confidence of those who have dealt with him. On August 25, 1922, Mr. Woodson was united in marriage to Miss Edith Scholz, of Eugene, Oregon, and they are the parents of one child, Marlyne. Politically Mr. Woodson gives his support to the republican party and is serving as a member of the city council. He belongs to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Cordial and friendly in manner, he has made many warm friends since coining to Harrisburg and is highly esteemed throughout the community. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
