CURRY Born in -------, in 1820; came to Oregon in 1846, and soon after became editor of the Oregon Spectator, the earliest and then only newspaper of the Northwest. In 1854 President Pierce appointed him Governor of the Territory, and he held that position until the organization of the State government in 1857. Died in Portland, July 28, 1878, aged 58 years.
