Hines, H. K. "An Illustrated History of the State of Oregon." Chicago: Lewis Pub. Co. 1893. p. 1100. H. H. JOHNSON County Clerk of the county of Clackamas, and a native son of Oregon City, was born July 23, 1849. He is the son of Rev. Hezekiah Johnson, a pioneer of 1845. Hezekiah H. Johnson, our subject, was the youngest child of the family, and he was raised and educated in his native city. He engaged in different occupations as he was growing up, and received the appointment of Deputy United States Surveyor. He served in this capacity for eight years, and during that time was engaged in Idaho establishing lines for the Government. In 1888 he was elected County Clerk, and gave such satisfaction that he received a re-election in 1890, and is now serving his second term in a highly satisfactory manner. He was married, in 1886, to Miss Josephine Day, of Ohio, and the daughter of Mr. Absalom Day. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson had one daughter, Violet Olive, born in Oregon City. Mrs. Johnson died in 1899, and her husband has had the sympathy of the whole community. Not only did they sympathize with him, but they felt that they all had lost a true and faithful friend in the death of Mrs. Johnson. Mr. Johnson is a Republican and a man of excellent reputation. He is proud of having been born in Oregon City, and he is one of her sons, of whom she may well feel proud. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios. Project in September 2006 by Diana Smith.
