HENRY J. PETERSON

     Born in Virginia; came from Iowa to Oregon and settled in Linn County; took
a donation claim and became a farmer; was elected to the Territorial Legislature
in 1848 and served one term.  He was a descendant of John Paul Jones, of
revolutionary fame.  Died in 1864.
