JOHN BUTT

     Born in Virginia in 1810, and lived there until 1836.  He was married in
1836.  In 1845 he started for Oregon and his wife died while on the way, and he
came on to Washington County, Oregon, with his children.  His principal
occupation since arriving in this State has been farming.  He held the office of
county treasurer two years.  At present he lives with his son Wilcox, at Forest
Grove.
