HOLMAN Born in Woodford County, Kentucky, August 18, 1814; was married in 1840 to Miss Rachel Summers; came to Oregon six years afterwards, and settled in Pacific County, W. T. Represented that district in the first legislative session under the Provisional Government. Went to California in 1848; returned in 1850, and founded Pacific City, on Baker's Bay, at the mouth of the Columbia. Moved to Portland in 1856, and resided there until his death, on the 20th of December, 1882. He was one of the first directors of the public schools of Portland, and was also identified with the affairs of the First Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member.
