J.WILLIAMS Born in Tennessee, January 5, 1830; came to Oregon in 1844; settled on the Luckiamute River, in Polk County, in 1845; was occupied in farming until 1874, then being elected sheriff, and in 1876 was re-elected. Owns now five hundred acres of land and city property in Dallas. Married Miss Sarah A. English in 1852, and their family consists of ten children, namely -- Susan, James F., Mary A. Jennie, Clara, Otho, Ethel, Ralph, Hattie, and Walter. Mr. Williams is the son of J. E.
