Resided for a time in Florida, and was in government employ during the Seminole war. Lived in New Orleans and St. Louis successively, and came to Oregon in 1845. Settled on a donation claim in Spring Valley, Polk County, where he now lives. Married Miss Elizabeth Hibbard, in New Orleans, in 1839, and had eleven children, of whom the following are alive, namely -- John E., Charles, Samuel, Hannah, Amelia (now Mrs. Basey, of Salem); Mary J. (now Mrs. Martin, of Weston); Elizabeth J. (now Mrs. McCurly, of Umatilla); Cornelia (now Mrs. Claggett, of Independence). ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
