JEREMIAH ROWLAND

     Born in North Carolina in 1805; removed to Tennessee, and thence, in 1844,
to Oregon.  Settling in Yamhill County, he was appointed by Governor Abernethy
probate judge of that county, serving seven consecutive years.  Occupation,
farmer.  Married in Tennessee in 1830 to Miss Lucy Butler.  He died in 1880,
leaving a large family, of whom Dr. L. L. Rowland, of Salem, is one.
