Clark, Robert Carlton, Ph.D. "History of the Willamette Valley Oregon." Vol. 3. Chicago: Chapman Publishing Company, 1927. p. 120. L. B. SIGWART Commercial activity in Eugene finds an able representative in L. B. Sigwart, who has made the electrical business the ladder by which he has achieved success. Having acquired a public school education in Omaha, Nebraska, he learned the trade of an electrician in that state and for seven years was engaged in that line of work in Illinois. In 1913 he came to Eugene and purchased the business of the Hunter Electric Company at No. 933 Willamette street. He then organized the Sigwart Electric Company, of which he has since been the executive head, and in September, 1925, moved to his present location at No.956 Willamette street, purchasing the building. At first he was an electrical dealer and contractor and in addition he now installs electrical equipment of all kinds. He conducts a service station and has the local agency for the Westinghouse products. He handles the Savage washing machine and the Kelvinator, the oldest domestic electric refrigeration, as well as a complete line of fixtures and other electrical supplies. He enjoys his work, in which he has acquired expert skill, and is conducting a large and rapidly growing business, displaying keen sagacity in its management. Mr. Sigwart was united in marriage to Miss Dee Davidson, who was born in Scotland and during her childhood was brought to the United States. Mr. Sigwart is identified with the Masonic order and the Rotary Club. He is also a member of the Eugene Country Club and the Chamber of Commerce. Stable, in purpose, quick in perception and energetic in action, he has steadily progressed toward the goal of success, and the sterling traits of his character have won for him a secure place in the esteem of his fellow citizens. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
