PATRICK HUGHES The subject of this sketch is a native or Ireland, and at the age of seventeen years emigrated to America, locating in Massachusetts. He came to California in 1856, where he engaged in mining until 1857. He then came to Oregon and located on his present ranch, now consisting of two thousand acres, where he is largely engaged in the stock and dairy business, near Cape Blanco Light House, and a short distance from Sixes river. Mr. Hughes is married and has seven children: Edward T., James S., John C., Thomas P., Francis J., Alice J. and Mary E. ******************* Submitted to the Oregon Bios.
