With James Hayes went over the Cascade Falls in a thirty-foot canoe. In November, 1843, came into what was known as Tualatin County, now Washington County, and has resided there since, farming most of the time, and still owns a donation claim at Cornelius; was a volunteer in the Cayuse war. Was married in June, 1845, to Miss Luceta Zachary; has five children living and six deceased.
